 The all-new Touareg has been unveiled – a car which is up to 200 kg lighter and up to 20 per cent more fuel efficient than the model it replaces. It’s sharper, cleaner and yet, in Hybrid form, able to out-accelerate many hot hatches while returning 34 mpg on the combined cycle. The new vehicle maintains all the same virtues of space, comfort, refinement and off-road and towing ability that have led the original Touareg to build up a loyal following since its launch in 2003. |

 The new VW Polo has scored a narrow triumph in the 2010 Car of the Year Award, beating six other finalists. The result, announced today, show that the Polo scored 347 points against 337 for Toyota’s new city car, the iQ. The pair were well ahead of the next-best runner, the Opel/Vauxhall Astra with 221 points, while the other finalists were the Skoda Yeti (158), the Mercedes-Benz E-Class (155), the Peugeot 3008 (144) and the Citroen C3 Picasso (113). |

 Volkswagen has revealed pricing and details of its latest BlueMotion model, the Golf Plus. The new model offers all the practicality and comfort of the new standard Golf Plus which went on sale in May, but with even greater economy and lower carbon dioxide emissions. Prices start at £17,570 RRP ‘on the road’ for the Golf Plus BlueMotion S, rising to £18,920 for the SE; that’s just £325 more than the equivalent standard Golf Plus S and SE models.
